Retail arbitrage at Kohls.
A look inside Kohl’s to discuss getting inventory to ebay and Amazon FBA. We also discuss clearance items, shopping after seasons, and taking advantage of holiday sales.
Retail Arbitrage at Big Box Stores : Kohl’s (for eBay and Amazon)
In the first part of this video, Tracy shows us a great deal that she found at Kohl’s in their clearance section. The item was a 2 pack of tactical flashlights that were originally $34.99 and then were discounted to $13.99 but when she got to the register, they were just over $10 each. She picked up 30 of them so will make a cool $450 profit on the ones that she bought and was only in the store for about 20 minutes.
She reminds us to go into the store, look for the clearance section, find items that are in the database, things easy to ship, things that won’t break and that have the 3 times profit rule. Ex: You buy for $10 and can sell for $30. So, you sell it and get your $10, $10 profit and Amazon takes $10 in fees. That’s the formula that will keep the numbers working for us to make profits.
Tracy has a credit card at Kohl’s so she gets extra coupons and always takes advantage of the Kohl’s cash that she can use on her purchases to help get her even more profits.
Next in the following part of the video, Tracy actually takes us on the shopping trip through Kohl’s so we can see where she got the flashlights from and all the other things that were available. She shows us the products that she avoids and the ones that she zones in on.
While Tracy is walking around, she spots Christmas stockings that they are already putting out at the end of summer season. The funny thing is that she bought those same stockings in January on clearance for 80-90% off. So she already has a box packed full of Christmas items that is ready for her to ship off to Amazon in September.
Tracy also reminds us that we when we are looking for merchandise, we have to pay attention to the end of holidays, but we also have to pay attention to the end of seasons. In this video, it is the end of summer, so they are clearing out all the summer stock and making room for Christmas, already!
As a PS in the video, Tracy comes back and tells us that she discovered that no one else is selling those flashlights so she can ask more for the products since there is no competition. She hopes to make $600 in profits and between shopping and then the listing and packing and shipping, she has about 40 minutes to 1 hr involved in this item. So that is some nice profit margins!
