Today we talk about the announcement 7 days ago, that Amazon FBA is now launching a Mexican platform. Information is just becoming available, but this video serves as the first of many that will explore the Canadian and Mexican FBA options available to you as a reseller.
Tracy shares with us, her research on Amazon FBA launch in Mexico and how that effects us and our businesses.
It is exciting because it is going to allow us to attract other customers that we didn’t have before. If we start to use the Canadian and Mexican platforms, that will open the doors for us to be able to reach a lot more buyers and thus, move a lot more product.
She spoke with Amazon Sellers Support twice to see if they would be able to explain to her how this launch will effect Amazon FBA sellers in the US.
They had told her that it would be easy to access the platform and that was not the case at all. Tracy then did a chat with Amazon and found there to be conflicting information so she will do additional updates as the information becomes available.
She was told that you will not have to call to get access to the platform, it will just appear on your seller account once they have completed all their updates.
They told her that when you select which platform you want to use to list your items, (US, Mex or Ca) you will list as you usually would do and then you will be told where to ship your products to. So it isn’t different than what we are already doing now.
Tracy had asked the woman at Amazon Sellers Support, via the phone, what paper work or documentation would be required since she would be shipping product over the border. She was told that there was nothing that she would have to do. Then she went to Amazon Chat and asked that woman the same question and she was then told to go to a website and when Tracy did, it was all in Spanish. So then she realized that Amazon was obviously still working through their glitches and she stopped the chat.
Being that Tracy has contacted Amazon on many occasions and always got her questions answered accurately, this was a new experience for her. They were sending her to links that didn’t work, as well as the site that was all Spanish.
She was told by the woman on the phone that she would have to update her payment and charging information since the Mexican system would be separate from the US system so all the banking information had to be changed to accommodate the new platform. This also would hold true for the Canadian platform.
Also, when Tracy was talking to the Amazon Sellers Support on the phone, she was told that when you list on the Mexican platform, you will have to list in the Mexican currency. But, when she was talking to the woman on the Amazon chat, she told Tracy that she did not have to do that and that Amazon would automatically convert the currency for you. So just a FYI, if you should call Sellers Support, you might want to ask about the conversion of the currency since Tracy was unable to get a definitive answer.
Tracy suggests going to: www.services.amazon.com.mx and you will have to click to have it converted into English so you can browse the site.
In review, we know that there are now 3 platforms for Amazon. US, Mexico and Canada and they are being treated separately at this time and you will have to enter the inventory separately for all 3 of them. Also, all 3 Amazon platforms will require you to ship your product to specific warehouses in the country you are listing in.
Keep in mind that your banking information will have to be separate for each platform as well.
