IS BECOMING AN ENTREPRENEUR AFTER DIVORCE A WISE OR RISKY DECISION?

After twenty-five years of marriage, raising two beautiful daughters, building a home and life that I loved, I woke up one day to discover my husband’s infidelity. YIKES! My world that I have known came crushing down around me. I was heartbroken, devastated, and terrified. Now divorced, I find myself rediscovering, rebuilding and reconnecting to a new way of life. It has become an opportunity to redefine me!
CHALLENGES
Trust me, there has been plenty of ups and downs along the way to recovery and although I am not quite there yet, I am moving forward on the road. Emotional scars may never heal but time does ease the pain. It’s the uncertainty, the unknowns that become the biggest challenges. No longer with a partner beside me to share in those times has been the most challenging both emotionally and financially. At the time of my divorce, I was looking forward to welcoming the retirement years but instead I’m searching for ways to help compensate the loss of an income. But, like everything else we are faced with in life, we have options. We can accept the circumstances we are dealt, or we can curl up in a ball and allow life to pass us by. The choice is ours. It can be an extreme challenge balancing finances and creating a life that we love.
A LIFE OF NEW BEGINNINGS
New beginnings can be frightful for sure. I had to find a new place to live in a new neighborhood with new people to meet. I began to indulge myself in new places to visit. I found myself trying new and different foods (some were delicious, others not so much). New ways to earn an income to help ends meet. Don’t allow fear to overwhelm you, instead learn to embrace and overcome the obstacles. If we allow ourselves to take a risk every now and then, it can be extremely rewarding and gratifying.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
One risk that I chose to take is BLOGGING. I have always been passionate about writing. A blog allows me the opportunity to express my feelings through words. It provides a platform for me to share my thoughts, ideas and experiences with others. BLOGGING requires very little overhead, no inventory and very minimal tech experience. It does require some planning and devoting time.
We live in a world of social media. Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, the world wide web, Instagram, and more. If anyone has ever wanted to start their own business, be their own boss, the timing could not be more perfect. It’s out there for anyone to engage at any time. One definition of entrepreneurship is the process of designing, launching and running a new business, which is often initially a small business. The people who create and develop these businesses are often called ENTREPRENEURS.
The opportunities of becoming an entrepreneur are endless. Entrepreneurship is a place where you are able to set the pace, determine your destiny, within a world filled with endless possibilities. It is a place where we can take our passions, our dreams and our desires to work in our favor, if we are brave enough to allow them. It all depends on how motivated we are to get it accomplished. I believe it is a RISK worth taking, how about you?
