The last summer video discussing the strategies for summer sourcing like 1) what sells well 2) back to school opportunities 3) summer tips 4) thinking outside the box and 5) extreme garage sales and curriculum fairs
This is the last of Tracy’s “Summer Sourcing Series”.
Tracy reminds us that the 4th quarter officially begins October 1st and that is the best quarter of the year, which is resellers favorite quarter of the year because of all of the holidays. We have Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, which means that people will be spending a lot of money.
Now we are wrapping up the 3rd quarter, which is the slow quarter of the summer months but people are buying the “back to school”
1st quarter of the year resellers still do well because people get gift certificates and people are looking for sales so we still have a lot of shopping activity.
2nd quarter, we have Easter, we have Mother’s day so we will see a lot of candy sales in this quarter.
The end of quarter 2 and the beginning of quarter 3 is when things really start to slow down. It is the most difficult time in the life of a reseller, year after year. That was the reason for Tracy to begin the “Summer Sourcing Series” to help us build a play list to help us be aware of the pro’s and the con’s to help us maximize the season.
Tracy reviews’s # 1 What sells in the summer?? Garden items, pool items & travel gear Next, Tracy talks about #2 Back to school opportunities. Resellers can make bundles of back to school supplies and Tracy has a video on back to school supplies. #3 in the “Summer Sourcing Series”, she talks about educational materials such as flash cards, work books and those types of items sell well all summer long.#4 is”Home Schooling Curriculum” is how Tracy keeps her sales up during the summer months. She got her start on Ebay, selling curriculum. #5 in the Summer Sourcing Series was garage sales, estate sales, book sales and library sales are always good sources of products to keep your inventory built up and sales continuing during the summer.
#6 tip was for us to think outside the box and to work on getting un-gated in Amazon categories to sell in. We will want to be able to sell in as many categories as we can, by the 4th quarter. So when things are slower, this is a chance for us to take advantage of the slower time so make sure we are up and running, full steam by Q4.
#7 which is the last tip covered is extreme garage sales and auctions. We get a chance to take a look at Auctionzip.com, where you can search for auctions, based on your zipcode. Auctions are good to utilize during the summer because in the winter, they are really popular because people are looking for things to do, in the summer, auctions tend to be slower. Also, Tracy shares the site frugalliving.com as a great source to look for yard sales. You will be able to find the longest garage sales locations. There are many to choose from and Tracy suggests to stay the night before and make sure you have a van.
The yard sale that is her favorite is the one that runs from Michigan all the way to Georgia. This sale is in August. It has it’s own site :127yardsale.com
Tracy also covers how to look for curriculum by searching for “used curriculum 2016” and fairs that sell them will come up. Also, check out the Florida Parent Educators Association to get an idea of what you will be looking for.
The used curriculum fairs, auctions and yard sales will be a great source for everyone to keep their inventory up and keep your sales up. This is Tracy’s secret on how she keeps her sales up in the summer.
