Tracy takes a break from her family camping trip so that she can continue reviewing with us in the Goal setting series. She actually drives to town so that she can have access to the Internet and post the video for us. Now that is dedication!
She reviews that we have been using the S-M-A-R-T approach to attaining our goals. In the previous 2 videos we discussed “(S)pecific” and we have talked about “(M)easureable” Today we will be reviewing, with Tracy, the “(A)ttainable” and the “(R)elevant”.
Tracy talks about attainable as the way for us to see how we are going to achieve our goals. She reminds us of her goal of loosing 10 pounds and what tools she was going to use to attain her goal. She was going to cut calories, cut carbs, use a food journal, drink more water and wear a Fitbit. These were the steps she was going to do to get to 123 pounds.
The “S” was to Lose 10 pounds. The “M” was that the scale was going to say 123#. The “A” are the steps that she will be taking to make her goal attainable and successful. “R” is for relevant. You have to have it set in your mind if the goal is worth all the steps and hard work that has to be done in order to achieve your goal. ( The “T” is “timely and will be discussed in the next video.)
Why are we doing these goals anyway? There are 6 reasons why we should set goals.
1.) Goals give you clarity. It helps you crystallize what is in your mind so that you can channel the time, the energy and the effort into what matters to you.
2.) Goals drive you forward. It represents in inner desire that motivates you and lights the fire in you to get you through the tough patches and makes you feel alive.
3.) Laser focus towards your goal. It is like a funnel that helps you channel all your energy toward your goal. Creating a list will help you stay focused.
4.) It makes you more accountable. It helps you materialize what you are working towards. It keeps you accountable to yourself and you know what your steps are and keeps to stay on target.
5.) Goals help you be the best YOU that you can be. It will help you realize your purpose and keeps you from settling for less. It will give you confidence to achieve higher levels.
6.) Goals helps us live our best life possible. You will be able to maximize your time on earth and be able to look back on a full, fun life with wonderful memories!
