The biggest struggle is knowing where to start. Which side of the Kit Kat do I eat first? Should I eat the filling and then the Oreo cookie, or eat it as a whole? How do I get into the business world? These are all very good questions that deserve to be answered. But even though I can’t tell you the proper way to eat a Kit-Kat or Oreo, I can tell you 5 ways you can get into the business world.
We’ve heard the debate over technology go on for years. Whether or not you believe technology is taking over is an opinion that is completely up to you. However, what if I told you that your future business could be nestled in the app store of your smartphone? These apps are those such as Poshmark, Depop, Letgo, Mercari, Etsy and Ebay. They’re all company related apps whose purpose is to give you a domain where you can sell off product to real-life customers. On each app you will need to create a profile, list products with pictures, descriptions and some well-needed details on what exactly you are selling. The trick to these apps is to treat your customers like royalty. If you treat your customers well, and sell them quality product then they will be inclined to highly rate your shop which will in turn lead to more customers. Once again these apps are the perfect place to get a taste of the business world.
Another way you can step right into the world of entrepreneurship is by forming relations with owners of local businesses and organizations around you. I know this may seem off topic but hear me out, who you associate with affects your entire life. Make relations with organizations and local businesses you wish to be like. If you have dreams of opening your own smoothie business contact your local smoothie shop and see if there’s any underground work you can involved with that will give you insight on what it’s like to run a business. Email, call, or even talk to the owners and discuss with them exactly what you want to do, if there’s any tips they would like to give, and discuss your interests with the company. By doing so you could spot yourself an internship, paid work, or who knows, maybe you’ll find yourself a team of fellow business owners who want to help bounce off ideas with you and are willing to help start up your business.
Are you talented at a specific task? Are you especially good at cleaning, doing hair, makeup, or even car mechanics? Freelancing could be your perfect gateway to entrepreneurship. The beauty behind freelancing is that it can fit into nearly any schedule and you’ll be doing what you’re especially good at. Freelancing will give you immediate experience on the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. It lets you see whether or not the business world is a perfect fit for you without major commitment. Freelancing can be done by students, parents, and even adults who have the typical working schedule so there’s no need to drop everything for this side business.
The next way you can get into the business world may seem like a no brainer, but you’ll be surprised about how many people want to open their own business but have no idea what about. So here’s my advice: in order to really get into the business world you need to figure out what YOUR passionate about. It doesn’t always matter what the boom is at this very moment because trends fade, but if you’re doing something that you’re truly passionate about then people will see that through your work and you’ll prosper. So find your niche. If you’ve always dreamed about opening up your own clothing boutique then brainstorm all of the details of your project. Find out what you want to sell, the designs you want to implement, and the quality of these products. Research into clothing production companies and pick the one that is the best fit for your company. Now you can either start small and sell your items off Etsy, or you can open up your own shop! A passion that you never get tired of is a great place to start!
