JANUARY brings to mind: new beginnings, starting over, new diets, new exercise programs, and more. The beginning of a new year is a good time for reflection on the past year, looking back, assessing what went right, what went wrong, and so forth. Allow yourself a few days to ponder this, whether looking to improve your personal life, or looking to move your business up a notch. In some cases a major overhaul of how you DO your business may be necessary.
- Make a list of your successes. You have obviously done some things right since you’ve explored becoming an entrepreneur. The mere fact that you have embraced “entrepreneurship” says you are not afraid to take the steps to improve your business and your life.
- It’s important to identify your strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps you have spread yourself too thin acquiring items to sell on Amazon, but haven’t developed the good habits of monitoring your inventory daily. It’s so easy to be consumed with the excitement of retail arbitrage, shopping for bargains, and running to every garage sale in an effort to build inventory, that one might overlook some business basics.
- Immerse yourself in building good business habits. Bookkeeping is a must, and there are multiple Apps available that can help with this. Subscribe to and watch Tracy’s videos on Youtube (www.youtube/entrepreneurgirl) and check out the many resources found on her site www.tracyjosmith.com/resources. It might be helpful to review her Beginners or Intermediate Series of videos. Take stock of the basics of e-commerce.
- Amazon also offers tutorials to help you start or advance to a higher level. Don’t just jump into Amazon without learning the rules of doing business on Amazon. Learn everything you can about the available tools, templates, worksheets, and reports.
- Develop realistic goals for the coming year, both in your business and in your personal life. Avoid a crap shoot approach. Think it out…..What do I want to accomplish? How can I stay focused? What do I need to learn to be better at e-commerce?
- If you are still going in circles, perhaps it would be worthwhile to get some coaching from Tracy. Options include phone consultation, email coaching, and intensive 7-day program to a month-long program. Many options are available.
So here’s to a New Year, a New You, and a Fresh “Re-start” in your business.
