Now that your office and equipment is established… a schedule is the next mandatory step in creating a successful stay-at-home business. Here is an example of my schedule, as a behind- the- scenes encouragement, to help you in the process of creating your own.
In this video,
takes us from video 1 where we have set up our office and we have our equipment in place and now we are ready to start by setting up our schedule. Our lives are crazy and have a lot of different elements to it and we need to have a schedule to help us to stay on track and stay focused and it is especially important when we are working from our homes.
Sit down with your family and list out all of things that you have to do each day. Not only will you list out the chores and then work that you have to do, but also the fun things that you want to do to enjoy your time with your family as well as time for yourself.
Within this schedule, you will need to make sure that you have set aside at least 4 hours of time for you to work on your business. This will be time for you to work, do research and just time that you will do nothing other than work at your business that you are building, for yourself.
Tracy shows us her actual schedule that she follows so we can get an idea of how to set up a schedule and then we will have to make changes to it so that it what is best for each of us.
Wake up with Tracy as she takes us through her day.
First she wakes up, gets going with her family, eats a healthy breakfast with her kids, take their medicines, supplements and then she exercises and does P90X’s routine.
Next, since it is summer and Tracy’s kids are all involved in sports, she heads to the pool for swimming lessons.
After swimming lessons, Tracy spends time while driving, reminding us that we need to spend at least 4 hrs a day and in that time do $400 in listings, etc. in order to make enough money to pay our bills and to live on.
She stresses to us that it is important to have a schedule and even if you are interrupted and don’t get to stick 100% to that schedule, at least you will have some things that you can accomplish on your schedule and it will help you stay more productive and yet it will also allow you to have time during your day that you are able to enjoy yourself and have fun.
Once back from swimming lessons, Tracy takes us into her closet and shows us that on this day, she will be cleaning her closet. But while she is in there, she will also be looking for things that she can get rid of and maybe make some money listing items on eBay while she is cleaning that “room for the day”.
Tracy also shares with us that she uses her crock pot all the time to get her meals cooked while she is doing other tasks. She uses cook books to create great meals and it will be cooked and stay warm even with her family’s hectic schedule. This allows her to go into her office and list things for sale, instead of being stuck in the kitchen, cooking.
After lunch, it is more vitamins and then to the pool for some more R&R with her kids.
Next, it is 1-5PM and that is work time for Tracy. Her kids know that is the time that she works and needs to not be interrupted. She focuses and works hard to get 8hrs of work done in 4 hrs.
When she gets into her office, she always starts with eBay so she grabs her cup of coffee and sits down to get started. She keeps track of each item that she lists to make sure that she is listing $400 worth of product each day.
She does all her customer service follow ups, tracks her packages, costs and logs how much she is listing and shipping each day for her 3 ebay stores.
Once she is finished with her eBay, then she moves on to Amazon and starts to list books. On this day, she has her helper “Toby” the guinea pig with her.
She shows us a few items that she lists and then she has finished her $400 for the day. After that, she will head off to the UPS store and ship off some boxes.
On her way back from the UPS store, Tracy stops off at CVS, where her friend works as a manager and she saved bubble wrap and peanuts for Tracy to use for her packing materials. Tracy also has other friends that save packing materials for her and you should as well. It keeps her packing material costs to a minimum and you can do the same thing as well.
At 5pm, Tracy is back at home and getting dinner out of the oven. They are having chicken, rice and beans and muffins. Sounds yummy!
After dinner Tracy’s husband takes some kids off for their sports and Tracy is assigned to soccer graduation. Then it’s some fun, frisbee time with the kids and then inside they go for popcorn and movies.
So as you can see, it is possible to have a family, work from home and still have a lot of fun. Just make a schedule and stick with it.
Hope you enjoyed this information and we will see you again soon.
