What do you do with all the inventory that doesn’t sell in your ebay and Amazon stores? Here’s one method to turn those losses into a small profit.
In this video, Tracy shares with us, what we can do with all the unsold, rejects that we have accumulated from your Amazon and EBay store.
First, she takes us into her garage and shows us how she has organized all her unlisted books that she had from the book sale. Now they are all in banker boxes, and divided into categories, such as: cook books, children’s books, fiction books, etc. If she has a lot of one writer, she will fill up a box with that particular author.
Next, she is going to discuss items that do not sell. An example would be that you buy something at a garage sale because your scanner said it will bring you a good profit. Well, you list it and it doesn’t sell. You tried various techniques, but it is still sitting there on your shelf in your garage.
Tracy keeps a box at the end of each aisle of shelves. Whether it is something that wouldn’t sell on EBay, or it was a product that didn’t move on Amazon, so she had them return it to her to avoid storage fees, then she would place all those items in the box. She writes a big, giant “R” on the side of the box. It stands for “Reject”. Once the box is filled, she seals it up and starts another one. Then when she has a bunch of boxes, she will take them to the local Salvation Army for a donation and gets a receipt for a tax deduction.
Depending on where you live and what group you would like to donate to, is up to you, but make sure you get the receipt for your donation.
Tracy doesn’t donate to Good Will because they are too big and she wants to support smaller groups or local community charities.
She waits until she has her whole van packed with boxes and then she will drop them off. Also, she finds places that will preferably will give her a blank receipt. That way she can make sure that she gets a fair deduction, rather than a smaller amount that the person insists on placing a low value on her donation.
If you write off the donation, then you really aren’t losing money since you were able to deduct that off your sales.
Tracy will first try to sell the items on Amazon and if they do not sell, then she will try on EBay, and if they still don’t sell, she will donate them. But you also could have a garage sale and try to get rid of more things that way.
Hope that you enjoyed these tips and we will see you soon!
