What an inspiration Donna is…. and such a joyful person! I am so proud of her ability to overcome obstacles… and she uses the goal sheet 🙂 Go Donna Go!
In Entrepreneur Girl’s “Real People. Real Lives. Real Reselling” series, Tracy introduces us to Donna Hunt who is a Real Entrepreneur! Donna Hunt works at home and is her own boss! Donna is a reseller on EBay, Etsy, Bonanza as well as starting to get her feet wet with Amazon FBA. Donna started to sell on Ebay and Etsy in 2010 and 2011. She was working full time and had gotten sick with kidney failure. She wanted to be her own boss and her husband suggested that she try some of the things that she had been wanting to try and work at home. First, she started to work as a home organizer and did that for awhile. Her husband started to become concerned about the hours that she was keeping because at times she was working into the evening. So at that same time, her cousin was selling on Etsy and she would tell Donna’s Mom to let Donna know about how she was doing, working from home, selling on Etsy. Donna’s cousin met with Donna and helped set her up with an Etsy account and she was then ready to roll. Donna went home and started to look through her vintage things that she had from her grandmother and -found a leopard skin pillbox hat and listed it. It sold within a couple days and that was it, Donna was hooked! She was so excited that she told her husband that this was it, she was not going to do home organization any longer and she was going to be her own boss and work from home selling on Etsy. She loved it. During this time, Donna went into kidney failure and required dialysis. At one point, she was even hospitalized. When she returned home, she was not going to let dialysis get her down and she continued to sell on Etsy.
Donna and her mother worked together searching for treasures to sell and then started to expand and sell some things on Ebay. By 2013, they dove in and really started to sell on Ebay more. Donna owns 2 Ebay stores where she sells used clothing and then her other store sells everything else and she is having a ball working from home and being her own boss. She shares with us that she not only works from home but she is also a wife, a mother a grandmother and a minister. Donna offers encouragement to everyone who is busy or living with a burden and feeling like they can’t do this. She stresses how important it is to not give up and to just try it. Donna has her goal sheet and her first goal is to pay off her credit cards and then after that, she is going to work on getting the mortgage paid off early. She stresses to work on it everyday but not to try to take on too much at one time. Small bites at a time is the way to stay focused on achieving your goals. She gives a big “Thank You” to Tracy for all her help and encouragement and thanks God for Tracy. Tracy has been such a big help for her and her family, who now all work from home and are their own bosses. Donna and her mother are both kidney transplant recipients and doing well and loving life and loving being real entrepreneurs! Thank you Donna for sharing your story. You and your family rock! |
